Guess what, everyone has something that they need to start. Whether it’s dinner, laundry, writing a book, or even a major life change – we all know what it is to have something waiting on us.
Caution: Heavy Load
How long can you carry something before your arms get tired? Depends on the weight, right? Well, what if I said you’ve been carrying your destiny, your fulfillment, maybe even your purpose? Those elements aren’t meant to be carried around, they’re meant to be free – allowed to breathe and move as needed. A lot of times we get in the way of our own purpose and destiny when we don’t do our part to activate them. Let me tell you from experience, an inactive purpose can get heavy, and the only way to lighten the load is to START.
I understand there’s some irony in what I said. The idea of my purpose is just ‘one thing’, but if I were to start and really make it happen – that‘s a laundry list of things added on instead. Yes, it may feel like more to do if you start something new, but I guarantee you your load will feel different. As Sen. John Lewis would talk about ’Good Trouble’, that my friends is called ‘Good Weight’. In order to shift from an unbearable weight to good weight, you have to START.
Speak it. Be it.
It’s time to move out of the way and let your purpose soar. It‘s time to prove to yourself that you can do this – now’s the time to start. Distractions can come from anywhere but it’s up to you to decide if they’ll be successful or not. Take time this week and think of the things you’ve been holding for a while. Make a list then write one thing you can do this week to start on them. As you work on your list ans actions, try speaking these affirmations:
- I’m a starter AND a finisher
- I’m intentional about my purpose and the things assigned to me
- I won’t allow distractions to stop me
- I’m going to START, today
